Is Christian Jewelry Ok To Give As A present
57I sometimes wonder when we all started getting offended at someone else wearing jewelry. I remember being a teenager and it was a big thing because one of the guys at school got his ear pierced.
It wasn't so much the ear ring as the fact that it was so darned visible that seemed to bother people. I mean no one complained when the dude got a jaguar (the animal not the car) tattooed on his leg, but of course that isn't as in your face as a ear ring with a cross on it.
We live in difficult times at the moment, wars and an economy that is tanking doesn't make for good vibes. It also seems that people are drawing more and more lines in the sand where religion is concerned.
So is it ok to give Christian Jewelry to someone as a present? I suppose the answer is, it depends on a few things
- Your relationship with the person
- How religious they are
- How religious you are
- Are you of the same religious beliefs (more or less)
Let's be honest if i am a Catholic and you are a Baptist I won't be too bothered if you give me a silver cross as a communion present. If I am a Muslim or Jew I probably won't be so happy.
If you are buying a present then the chances are that you know the person well enough to know how they feel about a lot of things. What religion they are, whether or not they are hardcore or are very easy going about it all.
You don't want to offend them and you don't want your present to be snubbed so giving some thought to it all before you buy is a smart idea.
Once you decide that buying them a nice silver cross jewelry is better than buying them a set of dining chairs then the fun starts.
